As we start the new year, please give thought to how we can continue to improve our website. New surveys, recipes, photos, etc. Everyone can contribute. If you would like to write an article, please do so. As long as it's relevant to our HOA, we'll post it. Thanks to all and Happy New Year!
New Scam Alert! Email states your automatic bill payment did not process and requests you to contact them immediately by clicking a link in the email. Do not contact them until you have contacted your bank to see if there was a real problem. One obvious clue to these scams is that there is not a bank logo or it is not from the bank you use.
Beware of scams! These economic hard times brings out the worst in people. I don't know about you, but I have seen an increase in spam, letters, phone calls and door to door salesmen that want my money for something. Be careful. Especially those that request money in order for you to make a lot more money. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Valley Springs Connect is a new community website. Take a look. You will also find it in "Sites of Interest".
Address Numbers - It is recommended that HOA members ensure that their home address is clearly displayed on their home or mailbox. This is not just for correct mail delivery but also in case of emergency.
At our February HOA meeting the Board reminded everyone that pet nuisances should be reported to the Sheriff's Dept. Animal Service Division. The CC&Rs state that it is a violation to allow loose pets as well as barking dogs. Enforcement comes from the Animal Service Division. Please go here.
Also some good website news. Members are using the website to contact The Management Alternative to ask questions. The bad news: the information requested is available on the website already! Actually, that's all good news. Check out the various pages on the left and see what our website offers.
Website: Do you like to write? Do you have ideas on topics for the Board or Architecture Committee to address? Let us know. This website is for us to share information and make our HOA community better. Please let us know.
Violation? At the August HOA meeting, a member questioned why he got a violation letter while his neighbors also had the same violation. The Board ensured the member that his violation letter was one of 90+ letters addressing the same violation within the Association and that no individual is exempt. It was agreed to by the Board that more information needs to be presented on this matter in the future to ensure membership of it's fairness.
Message Board: This is a great tool for asking questions that should be available to all members. Like the question on violations, this would be answered by Board members and others could comment as a discussion group for all to see. It would help in informing everyone on issues related to our HOA.
Future HOA Meetings will be held at the La Contenta Vista Grill from now on. Please check the agenda when posted online the week before the meeting.
You do not have to wait for the next HOA meeting if you have a question. Go to the Contacts page and on drop down you can select Management, the Board or Architecture Committee. If you want to start a discussion on a HOA topic, go to the Message Board and make a post. Many ways to stay involved in your community and many ways to share your concerns.
Board of Directors would like to remind all:
- Homeowners are making improvements without HOA approval. This can lead to costly corrections. Please read the CC&Rs and Standing Rules for all improvements and submit the request form prior to any construction or improvement. CC&Rs and Standing Rules as well as request forms can be found under Documents on this website. Please submit them to The Management Alternative. Any questions or clarification can be made through the Contacts page.
- Garbage cans need to be stored out of sight when not out for pickup. If left in view you are subject to fines.
- It's time again for weed spraying and or cutting. Please maintain your property as specified in the CC&Rs.
The Board wants the HOA to maintain the highest property values in our area especially in this housing downturn. We must all work together to ensure this. Unrestricted painting, fences, landscaping, weeds and storage will quickly lead to make our community a less desirable place to live. The Board would like to express its deep appreciation for the vast majority that maintain their property under the guidelines.
Jon Dick writes about "The Little Things" that make a difference and What the Board Faces in the New Year.
The best way to impact our HOA is by serving. There are a lot of good ideas out there. Please help. Contact Us to voice your interest. Thank you.
The La Contenta Golf Club has requested the HOA Board to remind all members and friends of our community that the golf course is restricted to paying golfers only. Recently there has been an increase in non golfers using the golf paths and course from walkers and joggers to bicycles riding on fairways and greens. Please stay off the course unless you are playing a round of golf. Thank you.
Mail catalogs are a nuisance to many. To remove your name from those you do not want, go to Catalog Choice and follow the instructions.
