Notes from your Board
Mailboxes
Many of us have experienced the dreaded continuous cycling of the locking bolts. This problem occurs from shipping or if the mailbox door is accidentally slammed shut many times. Follow the Secure Logic Troubleshooting Guide section titled "Is The Door Lock Acting Differently?" The instructions will guide you through the steps to ensure your actuator is making contact with the green micro switch which is housed on a small cover behind the main cover on the back of the door.
If you need a mailbox or replacement, contact ETL Products for purchase, 1-800-344-3242. Be sure to tell them you are from the La Contenta HOA. Discounts may still be available.
Barking Dogs
The members of La Contenta HOA have a right to a peaceful and enjoyable neighborhood. Too frequently, that peace is shattered by barking dogs. The HOA Board's position on this is that this violation is much different than landscaping or trailer violations and is viewed differently by different people. We recommend neighbors to work through their differences with each other first as the majority of problems are solved this way. If that fails and complaints continue we will send a letter to notify the member of the offending noise. If complaints continue, we will refer the members to contact Calaveras County Animal Services at 754-6509. Please note that due to some neighbor feuds in the County, Animal Services will not respond unless there are two or more neighbors complaining about the same address. Animal Services have a much more effective resolution process than the HOA could provide.
Comments, Concerns, Questions?
There are several ways to contact the Board with a question or concern. The most effective means is to contact The Management Alternative through letter, email or phone call. TMA then can determine if it is a general question that can be handled quickly, in which case the question is passed on to the appropriate person. If the question is determined to be more general to the community, it may be placed on the agenda of the monthly HOA meeting and addressed by the Board. If the question or concern is personal, then that member may be scheduled for a personal hearing during the monthly HOA Executive Session just prior to the general meeting. With this new website, it is also now possible to contact the Board or Architecture Committee directly with a question. Go to Contacts and select from the drop down window.
Front Yard Improvements
The Architecture Committee asks that we remind everyone to review the CC&Rs if there is any question on what can be built or installed in their yards. Most improvements satisfy those requirements, but plans are required prior to start of work and be submitted to the Committee for review. There are certain restrictions that if installed without review could cause problems. Thank you.
